The author at a book signing party.A voracious reader, she has written stories most of her life. Mesmerized by the stories her mother used to tell her about the ancestors who lived in Siberia, she interviewed her mother in depth and then began the reading and intense research necessary to bring this remarkable family odyssey to life. Relying on additional information gathered by her father many years ago and genealogical records assembled by her brother David, she was able to piece together an intimate picture of the struggles, tragedies and triumphs of people and times long gone.

Ms. Chamberlin-Levy grew up in California, Idaho, and Oregon. She came, her sister and a friend, to San Francisco in 1945. She currently lives in San Francisco and has three children and one grandson.
